Hunky Nanny: David Bowie’s ‘Labyrinth’ character is available to babysit your children

Chicago is going mad for David Bowie lately: September 23 was declared David Bowie Day, the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art opened its David Bowie Is exhibition, and Ty Segall busted out a medley of Bowie classics a few nights ago at Thalia Hall.

In proclaiming this past Tuesday David Bowie Day, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel described the performer as “an undisputed global icon boasting a catalogue of 26 critically acclaimed studio albums,” whose “remarkable half-century career has bridged cultures and faiths while both transcending and fortifying the music, art, fashion & design, and theatrical canons.”

This respect and adoration, however, might dangerously lead some parents into hiring Bowie for some babysitting duty (the man’s work is never done). A flyer spotted on a street pole in Chicago this month offers the services of one Jareth G. King, Bowie’s character in Jim Henson’s 1986 fantasy film Labyrinth.

It all seems well and good, and the resume seems decent enough, better than what you’d find on care.com or sittercity.com… until you realize there’s a baby-snatching time limit attached to the deal.

We do not recommend you hire Mr. King at this time.
