Animal Care: Keytar Bear fundraiser event moved to Middle East, Freezepop to headline; plus, Keytar Fox raises money in Nashville

We’re gonna need a bigger boat for the Bear.

The Keytar Bear fundraiser planned for May 8 at Workbar in Cambridge has been relocated along Massachusetts Avenue to the Middle East Downstairs, according to organizer Abigail Taylor. A few days after she announced the benefit to raise money for Boston’s beloved and furry street performer, more than 500 people have RSVP’d to the event. In the meantime, an online fundraising campaign through Indiegogo is nearly at $5,000.

With the shift from Workbar to the much larger Middle East, some live entertainment was necessary. Enter Freezepop, who’s own Sean Drinkwater is no stranger to the Keytar, and the Dirty Water Brass Band. Special guests are also promised.

“I’m so grateful for the outpouring of love and support for Keytar Bear,” Taylor tells Vanyaland. “He is overwhelmed. Please join us at the show so that he can thank you all in person.”

Taylor says she is also seeking donors for a raffle and a local company to do a fast run of t-shirts. Boston-area designers have chipped in with some cool logos for the event, as seen on the flyer below. All of the proceeds, Taylor stresses, will go to Keytar Bear.

Taylor says she’s not surprised at the response to help a Bear in need.

“People love to hear something good coming out of something bad,” she adds. “With all the bad news out there, it’s so great to see something good happen.”

A video was released yesterday of the alleged culprit punching Keytar Bear in Faneuil Hall.

Meanwhile in Nashville, the Keytar Fox spent his Thursday night on Lower Broadway raising money for Keytar Bear. The Tennessean has the word:
