Vanyaland Premiere: Wake up to the morning with R.M. Hendrix’s ‘In This Daydream’ video

Graphic designer by day, one-man psychedelic tornado by night, Cambridge’s R.M. Hendrix has become a bit of an underdog in Boston’s psych-rock circles. We’re not entirely sure the solo artist has ever played a live gig, but his Creation Records-kissed track “Summer Dresses” caught our attention a few years ago and we’ve been enjoying the late-night headphones ride ever since.

Now Hendrix is back with a new LP, Urban Turks Country Jerks, out this week on Texas-based Moon Sound Records, and while fiery first single “Wasted Summer” might prove to be a prediction of the next few months if the current weather holds, it’s the drawn-out, hazy-morning “In This Daydream” that scores video treatment.

It’s fresh out of the YouTube oven and can be screened up top.

The “In This Daydream” clip features the art of kinetic sculptor Arthur Ganson — Machine with Abandoned Doll, Thinking Chair, Machine with Wishbone, Another Housefly, and Another Dream — which are all currently on exhibit at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Museum.

Ganson gave the OK for Hendrix to get all up in there. We understand why.
