Return Of The Elvis Smashers: The Horrors announce new record ‘Luminous’ // listen to the first single, ‘I See You’

The Horrors’ brilliant 2011 album Skying was a rather unexpected musical breakthrough for the post-goth UK band, who have come a long way since smashing Elvis Presley busts at Great Scott several years ago. There’s a general feeling, however, that the best Horrors record is yet to come, and it may in fact materialize this spring.

Still probably banned from the Allston venue, the band announced this morning that new record Luminous will be out May 5 via XL Recordings. The album’s debut single, “I See You,” will be premiered tonight on both Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 show in the UK and Los Angeles’ KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.

UPDATE 3:08pm EST: Here’s the studio version, leaked on YouTube. Echo & the Bunnymen’s “Lips Like Sugar” says hello there. Pretty good, though; the final 90s seconds are fucking magical.

British audiences got a tease of the track when the Horrors performed it live in London earlier this month with the help of Thurston Moore. Check that out above, and set your eyes upon the album’s artwork below.

We have high hopes for this one.
