Wrap music: Mean Creek to roll burritos for charity today at Anna’s Taqueria in Brookline

Back in 2000, Limp Bizkit famously told us to “Keep rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ rollin'”, and clearly Fred Durst was singing/grunting about burritos. It was one of the few times Durst was giving advice worth listening to. Thirteen years later, the Bizkit hits the basket once again for a good cause, as Boston rock band Mean Creek will be rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ rollin’ burritos tonight at Anna’s Taqueria on Harvard Street in Brookline.

It’s all part of Anna’s Celebrity Burrito Roller Series, a monthly event where local celebs jump behind the counter to roll burritos to support a charity of their choosing. Tonight from 6 to 8pm Mean Creek will be rolling up $10 burritos (with chips and salsa!), and all proceeds will go to the Pine Street Inn.

“We chose the Pine Street Inn as we know it’s a big part of the community and they do great work there,” Mean Creek singer/guitarist Chris Keene tells Vanyaland. “[Drummer] Mikey [Holland] has volunteered there numerous times especially during the holidays.”

Keene admits his burrito rolls might not be perfect.

“I am very nervous of rolling burritos,” he adds. “I don’t cook. I haven’t even turned my stove on in my apartment in the two-and-a-half months I’ve lived here. Gonna do my best though, and if I suck too much I’ll just leave it to the rest of the band!”

After winning Album of the Year in last year’s Boston Music Awards (for 2012’s Youth Companion), Mean Creek are nominated for a pair of 2013 BMAs — Rock Artist of the Year, and Video of the Year, for the Loroto-directed “Cool Town.” Their upcoming LP, Local Losers, is out February 18, 2014 off Old Flame Records.
