10 songs with ‘Comeback’ in the title, in honor of the Red Sox and Patriots

[dropcap]Y[/dropcap]esterday was a historic sports day in Boston, a pair of victories brazenly clutched from the jaws of impeding defeat: A few hours after Tom Brady found Kenbrell Thompkins in the back of the Gillette Stadium end zone to give the New England Patriots a stunning 30-27 victory over the previously undefeated New Orleans Saints, David Ortiz sent Fenway Park into a mother’effin frenzy with a baller 8th inning grand slam to tie up Game 2 of the ALCS against Detroit. Of course, the Red Sox won the game 6-5 in the bottom of the 9th on a walk-off single by Jarrod Saltalamacchia, and a million celebratory memes flooded the night and everyone around town high-fived each other through the internet and into Foxborough and Kenmore Square. What a Sunday!

This morning, though, we got to thinking — what are some of the best songs with “comeback” in the title? We whipped up these 10, which are by no means a definitive list, but merely a fun soundtrack to bask in the glory that is Boston sports. It’s got a little bit of everything — indie anthems, Top 40 pop, real-deal punk, the guy from Hootie, and naturally, some Boston hardcore, khed. “This is our fucking city,” indeed.

Sleigh Bells — “Comeback Kid”

Misfits — “Comeback”

Fall Out Boy — “Sophomore Slump Or Comeback Of The Year”

Darius Rucker — “The Come Back Song”

Shout Out Louds — “The Comeback”

Kelly Rowland — “Comeback”

The Trucks — “Come Back”

Refuse Resist — “Comeback”

Redlight Kings — “Comeback”

Silversun Pickups — “Comeback Kid”

And of course, a shout out to perhaps the greatest opening lyric of all time, because Ortiz and Brady have, in fact, been here for years…

LL Cool J — “Mama Said Knock You Out”
