Hearing loss: Man gets ear bitten off outside Rhode Island nightclub after Grateful Dead cover band set

Crazy stuff always happens in Rhode Island, but this is some next-level Mike Tyson shit. Local police said a Providence man was charged with biting another man’s ear completely off during a fight outside the Met nightclub in Pawtucket on Saturday night. We looked at the Met’s online calendar, and apparently Shakedown, a Connecticut-based Grateful Dead cover band, was playing at the venue that night.

Now we don’t know if the two incidents are related; the Met could have live music early then convert to a nightclub’s dance party setting afterwards, similar to the House of Blues and Royale. But this is such a long strange head trip, some dude went home without an ear.

According to NBC 10 in Rhode Island, the chomp-down happened around 11:30pm just outside the club. From their report:

Police said 21-year-old Nicholas Parlee and 43-year-old Jeremy Hilton, of Pawtucket, had been at The Met and were leaving at around 11:30 p.m. when they got into a fight.

During the fight, police said Parlee grabbed Hilton’s head and bit his ear completely off.

Police said rescue crews were called and were able to retrieve the severed ear.

Hilton and his ear were transported to the hospital. Police said they didn’t know if doctors were able to re-attach his ear.

After a police lobe probe, Parlee was charged with one count of mutilation.
