Double tongue tied: Grouplove announce ‘Seesaw Tour,’ pair acoustic gigs with live shows

Remember that time in 1997 when Suede had a two-night stand in Boston to support new record Coming Up, but had to perform the second show acoustically because all of their gear got stolen outside the Paradise Rock Club? Well, more than 15 years later, Los Angeles indie collective Grouplove are taking a page out of Brett Anderson’s playbook, but without all the Comm Ave thievery.

The band perhaps most known for their breakout hit “Tongue Tied” has a new record out September 17 titled Spreading Rumors. To celebrate, Grouplove are doubling up on 11 North American cities this fall, playing two gigs in each: one plugged-in all electric rah-rah like, and the other stripped-down and acoustic to show off their softer songwriter-y side.

Here in Boston, we get our delectable deuce September 22 and 23: the first night at the Sinclair in Cambridge, then the hushed follow-up at Somerville’s Arts at the Armory. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning this Friday, with presale tickets available tomorrow.

Check out Grouplove’s latest single, “Ways To Go,” with full run of tour dates after the video jump.
