Morrissey cancels Latin America dates due to food poisoning; 60 shows nixed so far in 2013

Strange days, here we come.

This loose Tuesday began with news that Morrissey donated nearly $15,000 to PETA to fight the serving and selling of Foie Gras, using money he received in a settlement from a Gordon Ramsay show for using a Smiths song without his permission. And now, just hours later, in suspiciously unrelated news, online reports suggest the Mozzer has cancelled a string of dates due to food poisoning. Huh.

Latin America, you cannot get what you want, no matter how many times you say please. Your days remain silent and gray.

According to morrissey-solo.com, our boy has cancelled 46 shows so far this year, and that’s not counting this latest news, where 13 dates in Peru, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil (14 if you count a private event planned for Santiago on July 25), are now reportedly either partially or completely off the table.

If the entire Latin American run is nixed, that would make 60 shows cancelled or “postponed” so far this year. By comparison, in 2013 he’s only performed 15 live gigs, plus a pair of TV appearances on Letterman and Kimmel.

Guys, this isn’t good. The man is not well. We’d say keep him in your prayers but we know he’s already there.
