Sam Black Church reunion, Mephiskapheles, highlight 2013 Mighty Mighty Bosstones Hometown Throwdown lineup

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have announced the three-night 2013 Hometown Throwdown lineup for the House of Blues this December 27, 28, and 29 — and what jumps right out is the Sam Black Church reunion on December 29. Tickets to all nights go on sale today at 10am.

Sam Black Church’s first live show in six years — the sold out the Roxy for a quick one-off in September 2007 — arrives on the final night of the Bosstones’ annual residency, December 29. This year serves as the hardcore band’s 25th anniversary.

Also in the reunion spirit is New York’s finest Satantic ’90s ska band, Mephiskapheles (“B-O-S, S-O-B?”), which first reunited last year after a 13 year absence and have played only a handful of select gigs, including this month’s Riot Fest in Chicago. Longtime SoCal punk band Youth Brigade is also on the slate.

Last night, the Bosstones posted the following message on their social media, taking the unusual approach of naming the opening acts before tickets went on sale. Check it out for the full lineups, with some video treats after the jump:

In an effort to help you make informed decisions around ticket purchases, we are announcing (almost) all the support bands early this year. We are really excited about the line up! As usual we are neck-deep in all kinds of crazy plans and preparations. We hope your holiday plans collide with ours and that we see you in Boston!

Much love MMB
