New York pop group The Drums would like you to meet them in Mexico, and while you’re there, musically, chip in on earthquake relief efforts. Jonny Pierce today released a new track via Bandcamp called “Meet Me In Mexico,” and all contributions will be donated to Reconstruir México and Lago Tanganica 67, two Mexican relief operations helping the country recover from a pair of September earthquakes. “I am grateful beyond measure for the love poured out to me from my Mexican and Mexican-American fans,” Pierce says. “I contribute much of the longevity of my career to their devotion and passion for the work I put into the world. I wrote this song when I had reached a mountaintop of frustration with Donald Trump and his Country Club of Dumb Americans. I found myself wanting to get out of America. Mexico seemed like an obvious choice — a place to go of which I have only good memories. Mexico, I love you and I’m with you.” On May 19, The Drums are performing at Mexico City’s Marvin Festival on May 19, but before that, they’ll play Coachella and a few West Coast dates with Alvvays.
