“It’s quiet, it’s bitchin’. It’s pretty and it’s modal… I was trying to do like a ‘Street Hassle’ vibe, you know?” Yeah man, we sure do! That’s Evan Dando on the new Lemonheads single, a sweet little cosmic lullaby called “They Key of Victory” that hit the streams yesterday (August 5).
It’s also the third single from the Massachusetts indie luminaries’ forthcoming album Love Chant, the band’s first long-player of all-new material in nearly two decades, out October 24 on Fire Records.
Love Chant was recorded at A9 Áudio in São Paulo with producer Apollo Nove, and finds the Boston Music Awards’ Hall of Famer joined by a wealth of friends and collaborators, including J Mascis, Juliana Hatfield, Tom Morgan, producer Bryce Goggin (Pavement, Antony and the Johnsons), Nashville’s Erin Rae, John Strohm of the Blake Babies, The Bevis Frond’s Nick Saloman, and Adam Green of The Moldy Peaches.
Dando’s taking The Lemonheads out on the road for a healthy run of European and North American dates this summer and fall, and returns close to home with a trio of gigs: November 23 at 3S Artspace in Portsmouth; November 25 at The Drake in Amherst; and November 26 at The Wilbur in Boston.
