Kneecap, October 11

St. Patrick’s Day in Boston arrives twice this year: First on March 17, and then October 11 when Kneecap unfurl the bratach na hÉireann at Citizens House of Blues. The Belfast hip-hop trio and Irish cultural phenomenon — who last played Lansdowne, we think, by invitation of Dropkick Murphys just last year — have announced its largest North American tour so far. The word comes just as the BBC short-listed the trio for its Sound of 2025, which is a fairly big deal across the Atlantic, and with the help of a raucous live show, 2024’s well-received eponymous biopic — where Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Provaí each played themselves — and a staunch support of the Irish language, the movement grows louder by the day. Kneecap have stirred shit up with their fierce stance on Irish unification and republicanism, giving a voice to those who strive for one Ireland. Rapping in a mix of Irish and English languages for a potent cocktail of mindful fury, Kneecap are rooted in “community, craic, and defiance,” weaponizing their potent lyricisms and high-energy live shows to spark rebellion and change. Gártha! Tickets go on sale Friday (January 31) at 10 a.m. local time.
