Get your space invaded by the ‘Hope’ trailer

Hope
NEON

You had Nope, now you have Hope. That’s Na Hong-Jin’s alien-invasion thriller that has taken Cannes by storm — or at least had a bunch of the genre heads losing their damn minds all across the internet. Hong-Jin’s best known in these parts for the 2016 horror feature The Wailing, and this is his first feature since then. So, the dude’s been cooking up some wild shit in the last 10 years, and he has gathered together quite an interesting international cast to bring it to life. In supporting roles — and we highly recommend you don’t go to the Cannes website if you’d like to remain thoroughly unspoiled — you’ll find Cameron Britton, Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.

Anyway, NEON dropped a trailer for the film to accompany its premiere at Cannes, and you’ve got to wonder if they’re worried that they might not win the Palme this year. They’ve got the Tom Brady IG post scheduled — you just know it to be true — but with names like James Gray, Cristian Mungiu, and some dude named Kore-eda left to screen their films, they might still be a lock.

Anyway, take a look:

Here’s a synopsis for Hope, which has fewer spoilers than the cast list:

“In the remote South Korea village of Hope Harbor, police chief Bum-seok (Hwang Jung- min) and officer Sung-ae (Hoyeon) are called to find a mysterious creature that has wreaked havoc on the village. In the nearby forest, a coterie of hunters, including Sung- ki (Zo In-Sung) set out to track the beast and find themselves hunted instead. But all is not as it seems, and perceptions can be misleading. What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, escalating through human conflict into a tragedy of cosmic proportions.”

Hope will hit theaters stateside sometime in Fall 2026.
