Quicksand, March 19
Last week we were bummed to see that the Refused farewell tour itinerary, for whatever reason, did not have a Boston show. Part of the sadness was not being able to send off the Swedish post-hardcore legends’ in proper New England style, but also because it robbed us a chance to once again see Quicksand, who are opening up the entire tour. But fear not, as the New York City crew have sprinkled in their own headline dates within the Refused run, and part of that batch is a very cool March 19 romp at the Paradise Rock Club in Boston. We’ll jump at any chance to hear transcendent classics like “Landmine Spring” and “Thorn In My Side” — or really anything off the band’s iconic early albums Slip and Manic Compression, which were a musical gateway for many — and the ‘Dise setting is perfect to revisit the soundtrack to our ’90s youth. Maybe we’ll eventually get a Refused date on a second leg, but hey man that’s cool, as Walter Schreifels and the boys save the day. Feels like high school all over again. Tickets go on sale Friday (September 20) at 10 a.m. local time.
