Editor’s Note: Welcome to V3 Weekend, Vanyaland‘s guide to help you sort out your weekend entertainment with curated selections and recommendations across our three pillars of MusicComedy, and Film/TV. It’s what you should know about, where you need to be, and where you’ll be going, with us riding shotgun along the way.

Music: Wolfmother at The Paradise

Wolfmother’s latest album is titled Rock Out!, and that’s what Andrew Stockdale and his gang continue to do. After bringing the riffs to Europe this summer, the Australian rock and roll survivalists set sights on North America for a 24-date romp that crashes the Paradise Rock Club this Saturday (November 25). Yeah, we’ll all be a little bit stuffed after Thanksgiving and broke after Black Friday, so some live music exercise — namely rocking the eff out to aughts classics like “Joker And The Thief” and “Mother” — will be quite welcome. For a taste of what’s on the menu, Wolfmother dropped a ripper of a new tune back in the spring called “Stay A Little Longer,” and it channels the ghosts of Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy. Fire it up below.

WOLFMOTHER + FEVER DOG :: Saturday, November 25 at The Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave. in Boston, MA :: 7 p.m., 18-plus, $29.50 :: Event info :: Advance tickets

Comedy: Dane Cook at The Wilbur

Uh oh, Dane Cook is coming back to town for the holiday weekend, as the Arlington stand-up comedian, actor, and director posts up for two nights at The Wilbur. Mic’d Up, as usual, has the word: “Any time the Dane Train heads for home, it’s a time to celebrate. With his Perfectly Shattered Tour winding down to its hometown conclusion, Cook looks to pick up some pieces and stick them back together ahead of what is already shaping up to be a big year for him in 2024, as he has a myriad of projects in the works. This won’t be the last we’ve seen of him, but it just may be the most confident and ‘ready to rock that we’ve seen him in quite some time.”

DANE COOK :: Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25 at The Wilbur Theatre, 246 Tremont St. in Boston, MA :: Friday at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m., $35 to $78 :: Event info and advance tickets

Film/TV: ‘Thanksgiving’ in local theaters

Ok, fine, we’ll bite: If there was ever a weekend to go see Eli Roth’s new Massachusetts-set horror flick Thanksgiving, it’s fucking this one. With apologies to Ridley Scott’s sure-to-be-epic Napoleon, let’s all be good little pilgrims and party with Gina Gershon, Patrick Dempsey, and everyone’s real MYV, Rock Hoffman. Based on the mock-trailer from 2007’s Grindhouse, Thanksgiving should be a slashing good time at the cinema. Here’s the synopsis: “An axe-wielding maniac terrorizes residents of Plymouth after a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy. Picking off victims one by one, the seemingly random revenge killings soon become part of a larger, sinister plan.” Awesome. And hey, whatever happens, it can’t possibly be scarier than talking at the Thanksgiving table with your extended family.
