boygenius, September 25
We’re trying to be “Cool About It,” but hey, that’s no use. boygenius, the American supergroup of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, have announced a short run of shows this fall in support of their AOTY contender, the record. Here in Boston, we’re treated to a relatively intimate gig, as the trio post up at MGM Music Hall at Fenway on September 25, with support from one-time Allston artist Palehound (which makes the show even more special). And we say intimate, because elsewhere, boygenius are flexing their collective muscle with shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City and the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. The MGM show kicks off the run of only five dates (so far), so don’t sleep, don’t sweat, and don’t be “Not Strong Enough.” You got this. Tickets go on sale Friday (July 14) at 10 a.m. local time.
Porno For Pyros, Horns, Thorns en Halos Tour, October 30
Against all odds, Porno For Pyros have finally escaped the prison of the ’90s. Perry Farrell’s post-Jane’s Addiction project has announced its first tour in 25 years, and it includes an October 30, Halloween Eve party at Boston’s MGM Music Hall at Fenway. The tour is dubbed Horns, Thorns en Halos, marking the 30th anniversary of Porno For Pyros’ formation, and the eclectic band, which had an MTV hit in 1993 with “Pets,” will run back its original lineup, with Farrell joined by Jane’s Addiction co-conspirator Stephen Perkins, as well as Peter DiStefano and Martyn LeNoble. A new album is said to be in the works for later this year, the followup to 1996’s Good God’s Urge (pro tip: the single “Tahitian Moon” still slaps). Tickets go on sale Friday (July 14) at 10 a.m. local time.
