D-Tension gives us something to remember with ‘The No Name Song’

Last time we caught up with D-Tension, the longtime Boston music scene fixture was lamenting the loss and gentrification of Kenmore Square. Now he’s set to take us down to the local pub, but not before rocking out a bit with a new single out today (January 5) called “The No Name Song.”

The rollicking and riff-tastic rock and roll cruiser is the first single from the multi-instrumentalist and producer’s forthcoming April solo record Tales From The Pub. The new album, which follows his 2021 collaborative LP D-Tension’s Secret Rock & Roll Project, is a one-man show: “No guests, no features, no help.” On it, D-Tension lays down the guitar, bass, drums and programming, and keys and supplies all the vocals, all while crafting songs about people-watching and bar-life experiences.

And it all starts here, with something tough to forget.

“‘The No Name Song’ is about a universal dilemma: That feeling when you meet someone but can’t remember their name 10 seconds after they just told you what it was,” says D-Tension. “How friendships and relationships never happened because you can’t remember their name. The song is also a secret easter egg/ode to songs that mention names.”

Fire it up below.
