It’s the end of the year, we’re tired, and we’re not sure what’s real and what’s not anymore. So when we saw the lineup for the inaugural Sick New World Festival, going down May 13 on the Las Vegas Fairgrounds, we had to do a double-take and make sure what we were looking at was actually happening and not some twisted nu-metal-flavored fantasy.
Because, uh, that’s some lineup.
Following the recent trend of ultra-themed mega festivals like the classic alternative-minded Cool World and emo-strung When We Were Young, Sick New World packs a wallop of alternative and hard rock, with some goth and industrial outliers that make the whole thing kinda fascinating. Atop the bill we have System Of A Down, KoRn, Deftones, and Incubus, and those who love those bands are in for a treat right down to the small fonts.
Also appearing are The Sisters of Mercy (sorry, what?), Placebo, Evanescence, Skinny Puppy, Turnstile, Chevelle, Mr. Bungle, Papa Roach, Death Grips, Flyleaf, Ministry, She Wants Revenge, Filter, KMFDM, Orgy, Monster Magnet, Sevendust, Melvins, My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, 100 Gecs, Killing Joke, Body Count, London After Midnight, Coal Chamber, Alien Ant Farm, Boston’s Fiddlehead, and others.
