White Reaper jump in the car for a ride to power-pop city on ‘Pages’

White Reaper are back, they’re Asking for a Ride, and even though we weren’t exactly anticipating leaving the house today, we’re ready to give the good kids from Louisville a lift to pretty much anywhere they wanna go. It just be like that.

And once they hop in our car, we’ll have new single “Pages,” blaring out of the stereo speakers, reminding us once again just why we fell in love with White Reaper all those years ago. “Pages,” a catchy dose of genuine power-pop, hits the streams today (October 26), the first taste of the new album that hits January 27 via Elektra Entertainment.

“It seems like ‘Pages’ could’ve easily existed on one of our earlier records, it’s just a few chords and a simple melody; but because of that, I’d say that it’s pretty unique to the rest of our new album,” says vocalist and guitarist Tony Esposito. “We can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”

That’s a bit of a good news / bad news situation, as while we’re excited for just what White Reaper has in store with Asking for a Ride, we are vibing hard to the sunshine-blasted new single on this brisk fall day in New England.

The track arrives complete with a music video, directed by Lance Bangs, who has this to say about it: “White Reaper are a joy to make things with, five guys that are good company in recording studios, house parties, live shows, and anywhere else you can spend time among them. We had a great experience shooting saturated color motion picture film on handheld cameras for the ‘Real Long Time’ video for their previous album, and I wanted to get everyone together for an outdoor daylight look in one of my favorite architectural public spaces, the Keller Fountain in Portland, Oregon. It was designed in the late-’60s and opened to the public in 1970. It’s an enduring free space where people can spend time. We filmed on a bright, warm afternoon and conjured up a video that feels like the song: Dynamic, catchy, genuine.”

Get in the car below, and check out word of White Reaper’s upcoming 2023 tour, which plays Boston’s Royale on March 19. Road trip szn, yeah.
