Well, it’s about time someone released a song about the year’s hottest accessory. Enter “Fake Smiles,” the lowkey new single from FELIX! and Jiles, released earlier this week (September 2) under Brockton collective Van Buren Records. The pair gets real about an age of constant facades over a shuddering, almost eerie beat. Their spirits might be weary — “I just want some peace, honestly,” FELIX! admits — but both gentlemen’s wordplay is as dexterous as ever: “She said I need to open up, then I can be soft more/Year two with you was a slump, like a sophomore” Jiles raps in a standout moment.
