The immense joy of being able to catch up with an old friend is not something that can always be put into words. However, Matteo Lane has a lot of words at the ready to get us up to speed on his life, and it’s exciting to know he’s also our friend.
With just one show set for his highly-anticipated return to Boston, Lane makes his way to Wang Theatre on Saturday (March 21) as part of his We Gotta Catch Up! tour. While most of Lane’s schedule has been filled with stand-up dates that have taken him everywhere since he was last in the city to do a full stand-up show, he’s also stayed busy by releasing two stand-up specials, with the most recent coming in the form of his 2025 Hulu hour The Al Dente Special, and even jumping into the literary realm last year with his first cookbook, Your Pasta Sucks. He’s also continued to grow his podcast reach with I Never Liked You, which he co-hosts alongside fellow comedian Nick Smith.
There are very few artists in the comedy game that can own as many attributes and perspectives as Lane, and he’s made his presence known over the last few years more than ever before. This isn’t the first big theatre he’s played, and it certainly won’t be the last, but check him out this weekend and see what he’s been up to, because there’s a good chance it’ll be some of the best written and delivered comedy you’ll see all year.
