Naming an album If Not Winter and then dropping it during the height of summer is a vibe, but we would not expected anything less from Wisp. As the San Francisco nu-gaze comet from Natalie R. Lu readies its debut record for public consumption next week (August 1), one last sonic appetizer has surfaced in “Breathe onto me” to get us all worked up. And it’s got a summertime mood that counters lots of the stuff coming out lately. “‘Breathe onto me’ is a fun play on affection, touch, and love on the surface,” says Lu. “It’s about the simplicity of physical relationships and how they can totter between innocent and lustful.” Most of the relationship-based tracks coming out lately have a sinister or pessimistic lean to them, because hey, that’s life in ’25, so it’s nice to just get lost in love for a bit as our summer daydream begins to wind down. Turn it up and get into “Breathe onto me” below.
