This Show Is Tonight: Wallice seeks a proper court ‘Jester’ in Allston

Nearly four years — to the day — after we first hyped her striking Gen Z-minded single “23”, Wallice is rolling back into town to play Brighton Music Hall in Allston tonight (February 4). And the Los Angeles alt-pop artist will do so showing off her debut album in November’s The Jester.

Before the ’24 holiday season swallowed us whole, we were treated to a standout single from the record in the fluttering and magnetic “Deadbeat,” where Wallice’s vocals jump to the front of human contact.

Here’s what she has to say about it: “I wrote ‘Deadbeat’ last October after a falling out with someone in my life. It is probably my most personal song to date — to be honest, it’s a very touchy subject that’s hard for me to talk about, but I am so proud of the vulnerability in this song. Using music to work through these emotions was a very cathartic process, and I think that feeling will resonate.”
