Lip Filler careen down the reckless corridors of life with ‘Leeches’

Not everyone subscribes to the “new year, new you” philosophy. Many out here are still callously careening down the corridors of life with reckless abandon, and now there’s an indie rager to apply additional heat to this crash-course behavior.

It comes from English risers Lip Filler, who just played a Murder Capital-curated Friend Crush party in London over the weekend and set a tone for it by unleashing the incendiary “Leeches.” The scorching track emboldens the band as one to keep tabs on in the year ahead — regardless of the listeners’ personal behavior.

“Leeches is about someone who’s lost control of the wheel,” says frontman George Tucker. “Letting their bad habits and insecurities get the better of them until they can no longer trust anyone, damaging the relationships of everyone they hold dearest.”

Lip Filler are quickly developing a rep on the strength of a tenacious live show and a string of punchy, confrontational singles, including this past November’s “Tricky.” Both cuts were produced by St Francis Hotel (Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka) and will be featured on the band’s forthcoming 2025 project. Buckle up.
