You won’t catch OG Swaggerdick dicking around in 2024. After a decade-plus of crafting uniquely eccentric projects like POW! and Views From The Dick, the Boston artist has unveiled a new persona called MARQUISE! to henceforth tantalize us with rollicking raps. The artist’s new era and moniker launched last week (March 1) with a track and video called “NO DOUBT!”, a thumping introduction that flexes MARQUISE!’s production chops as he name-checks DJ Khaled and Gwen Stefani.
“OG SWAGGERDICK IS STILL HERE HE JUST NOT HERE RIGHT NOW BUT HE CAN COME OUT AT ANY MOMENT LIKE 10 YEARS FROM NOW,” he explains on X, also noting that OG Swaggerdick has merely “retired in Cuba.”
Meanwhile, in the visual for “NO DOUBT!”, MARQUISE! is living dangerously enough to warrant a pre-video safety disclaimer. While his “OG” identity is allegedly sunning himself in the Caribbean, the rapper’s new counterpart elects to deliver his bars from bridges and the edges of rooftops.
