Summer may have quickly faded in the rear view, but Holly Humberstone is still finding the time to stay submerged in some of the season’s most cherished moments. The English singer-songwriter has released another melancholic new single today (October 5), and “Kissing In Swimming Pools” captures a feeling of young love with cinematic precision and yearning intrigue.

As she gently sings “So, can we kiss in your swimming pool / In this bathing suit / I would die for you,” it’s hard not to have our own nostalgic memories of more carefree times flooding back to mind. But that’s usually at the core of Humberstone’s lyrical magnetism; the ability to transpose her coming-of-age experiences with our very own, weaving tales of love and loss and life with a delicate balance.

It’s a vibe that first caught our attention back in Summer 2020 with one of her earliest singles in “Overkill”, and along the way Humberstone continues to adeptly crystallize these seemingly fleeting moments into a emotive compass for navigating through life.

“Kissing In Swimming Pools,” meanwhile, is the latest to be featured on the rising star’s debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black, set for release next Friday (October 13) via Darkroom / Geffen / Polydor Records. Dive in, as one does, below.
