When it comes to the history of comedy, very few — if any — scenes can boast a contribution as big as that of New England. Now thanks to John Tobin and Laugh Boston, the modern day talent that has followed in the footsteps of everything from The Harvard Lampoon to Bill Burr’s Monday Morning Podcast will get its moment in the spotlight, with a little bit of hardware to boot to kick off the new year.

As announced earlier this week, the community leader and longtime comedy promoter and his team at John Tobin Presents have curated the inaugural edition of the Boston Comedy Choice Awards, slated to take place at Laugh Boston on January 11. The presented awards, spread across a myriad of categories, will seek to celebrate the talented efforts shown across New England’s comedy community throughout the year, further adding to the stacked catalog of historically hilarious artists that have come out of the region over the course of the past five decades.

The categories for the awards, which will host five nominees each, will be announced through all of Laugh Boston and JTP social media accounts on October 16 at 10 a.m. local time, with each of the nominees being announced a week later on October 23. At that time, voting will be open to the public until just before midnight on December 15.
