Blair Davie understands the impact of missing someone. And that’s fairly ironic, because we think we’re going to have the rising singer songwriter in our lives for quite a while.
The 22-year-old London-based, Scottish-born artist today (April 5) releases “To Miss You,” an enchanting pop-rock ballad that sonically recalls the grand post-Britpop ambition of the likes of Starsailor and Three Colours Red, channeling his lovelorn sentiment into a life lesson about keeping perspective and overcoming loss. It’s a lush dance where euphoria and melancholy are separated by an instant.
“I wrote ‘To Miss You’ when I was miles away from home,” says Davie. “It was the first time I’d been apart from my family for longer than a month and I felt this heavy weight of loneliness, in a new city where I barely knew anyone. Then a couple of weeks before heading home I met someone who showed me that it’s better to love and feel all the emotions that come with that, than to never feel at all.”
They add: “‘To Miss You’ is a reminder to myself that missing people and going through heartbreak, loss and finding love that makes it hurt when you’re apart can be beautiful things because they show how much we care for other humans.”
