You may not be 19 forever, but it could be 13 years since you saw one of your favorite bands play live in your city. That’s the case with Courteeners, the Manchester indie group who this week have announced their first live shows in the United States since 2009, when they played Coachella and toured with Morrissey (including a show here at House of Blues).
Liam Fray and the boys — armed with an arsenal of indie dance floor hits like “Not Nineteen Forever”; “You Overdid It Doll”; and “Are You In Love With a Notion?” — will play four stateside shows later this year, starting with a November 10 kickoff at Brighton Music Hall in Allston. From there, Courteeners take on New York City (November 12 at Bowery Ballroom); Philadelphia (November 13 at The Fillmore); and Los Angeles (November 16 at Troubadour).
It should be a fun run of intimate club dates for a band that plays to massive audiences in England, like a June 2019 hometown date at Heaton Park that sold 50,000 tickets in just a few hours. Courteeners last album was 2020’s More. Again. Forever., and we hyped its lead single “Heavy Jacket”.
Tickets to the upcoming dates go on sale Friday (June 17) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster.com for the three eastern shows and seeticketsusa for the L.A. gig.
