Pale Waves will skewer your ‘Lies’ with brutal honesty

Pale Waves’ frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie isn’t one for entertaining second chances. “Once you do me wrong, you’re gone!” she says, explaining her mindset behind “Lies,” the band’s newest single. But when the English group from Manchester does right, you can play ’em all night, and their new betrayal-bashing bop is worth keeping on repeat.

Pale Waves dropped the tune earlier this week (May 9), sharing the first righteous ripper from their forthcoming album Unwanted, due out August 12 via Dirty Hit Records. “Lies” weaponizes brutal honesty and blistering riffs to strike back at old flame who tore through Baron-Gracie’s heart — and her confidence.

“‘Lies’ is about someone who built up my trust and destroyed it like a wrecking ball,” she explains. “It caused trust issues for myself, but fortunately for me that person is no longer in my life.”

In with “Lies,” out with your ex’s bullshit. Hear Pale Waves’ new single below, and catch the band at Leader Bank Pavilion on July 9 supporting 5 Seconds of Summer.
