Seriously, guys, here’s the final ‘Morbius’ trailer

Morbius

We didn’t get a chance to write about the last delay for the long-simmering Morbius, which would have hit screens back in 2020 had COVID-19 not come into the picture, but it’s looking like that was a pretty swell move, given how much cash money Spider-Man: No Way Home made over the Christmas holiday and the January doldrums. Sony didn’t want to step on any of those potential gains, so they pushed this one out far enough that they’d only have to compete with… well, nothing. That means Morbius will get your full attention later on in April, and, via Sony on Monday, here’s honestly, truly, really the final trailer, guys.

Take a look:

Here’s a synopsis, which features what might be the single funniest term for a shared universe of superhero characters that we have seen yet:

“One of the most compelling and conflicted characters in Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Yes, that’s right: the world that Morbius and Venom and company live in is called “Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters.” “MCU” rolls off the tongue well, and even “DCEU” had a certain fun sound to it. But… SPUMC? Seriously? How did that one get out of a marketing meeting unscathed?

Anyway, you can finally watch Morbius, after a full two years of delays, on April 1. We probably wouldn’t bet on it, though, with that track record.
