Aaron and the Lord channel Cocteau Twins with help from Tanya Donelly

Dear reader, dear leader, dear all who are divine and named Sheila, we’ll be real with you: We were originally going to hype the new single from Aaron and the Lord as part of the V3 Weekend series, because this new project from Aaron Perrino and Steve Lord (Dirty Bangs) was set to play Brighton Music Hall in Allston tonight (February 18). But like most plans of the past two years, that show was suddenly postponed, so we’ve pivoted, as well. We’re instead presenting their new tune “Heaven or Hyannis” as a traditional Fast Tracked feature because it’s just too damn good — no shows attached. The track dropped last week, and follows up their fall debut album, proving there’s a lot of life to Perrino’s latest creative burst. The dreamy “Heaven or Hyannis” features celestial guest vocals from Tanya Donelly, and it’s a swirling slow kiss of alt-rock warmth that demands multiple listens. There’s no show tonight, but fear not: Aaron and the Lord are slated to play a pair of notable festivals this spring: Lowell’s The Town & The City on April 8, and Boston Calling in Allston on May 29. They’ll be back in the clubs not before long, to be sure, either on Cape Cod or another far less desirable location. In the meantime, get into “Heaven or Hyannis” below.
