This Show Is Tonight: Shura plays Brighton Music Hall

2019 has been the year that feels like a decade, so it’s crazy to think that it was only March when Shura returned to our lives with trans-Atlantic R&B love song “BKLYNLDN”. It set the tone for the British performer’s brilliant August record forevher, a collection of emotive alt-pop songs that dive beneath the surface of love, lust, and just simply what it means to be alive with feeling in perhaps the craziest and most confusing time in modern history. Shura’s confessional LP is a compass for modern love, and a triumphant attempt to connect our lives to something more human, something pure, as the world around us feels increasingly unwelcome. Buoyed by compassion, Shura returns to our town tonight (October 22) when she plays Brighton Music Hall in Allston, and for one evening, at least, a human connection should be felt by everyone in the room.
