Oasis release new lyric video for ‘Fade Away’ as ‘Definitely Maybe’ turns 25

This year called 2019 has been a wild one for classic Britpop albums turning 25. That’s essentially because 1994 was one hell of a year for music of all kinds, as we outlined in our 1994 Forever post from a few month back.

But alongside vital releases from Suede (Dog Man Star), Blur (Parklife), and Pulp (His N’ Hers), perhaps no Britpop artist had a better ’94 than Oasis, who dropped their massive debut album Definitely Maybe 25 years ago this Thursday. To celebrate, the brothers Gallagher (or the teams behind their once-united front) have issued a new lyric video for “Fade Away,” the b-side off the LP’s fourth single “Cigarettes & Alcohol,” which lined up behind behind “Supersonic,” “Shakermaker,” and “Live Forever.”

It’s pretty standard fare, but a good reminder about this week’s anniversary. For the Vanyaland take on Definitely Maybe, revisit senior writer Michael Christopher’s assessment of the record from five years ago, when it turned 20.
