Here’s where to view The Cure’s 40th anniversary concert film

Screengrab

The Cure’s 40th anniversary concert at London’s Hyde Park last summer is already the stuff of legend: 65,000 fans, a marathon set of nearly 30 songs spanning the band’s four-decade career, and an opening act lineup of Interpol, Ride, Goldfrapp, and others.

Now, the show’s concert film is set for a July 11 theatrical release, and the trailer for the Tim Pope-directed feature, appropriately titled The Cure – Anniversary 1978-2018 Live in Hyde Park London, is available to view below.

It’ll be released in 4k format, with 5:1 surround sound mixed by Robert Smith and Paul Corkett at Abbey Road.

Around Boston, at least three cinemas will be showing the film on July 11: AMC Boston Common 19 and West End Cinema in Boston, as well as Cambridge’s Landmark Kendall. On the other side of the state, Hadley’s Cinemark 15 + XD is also screening it.

In the Phoenix metro area, there are multiple cinemas taking part, including Tempe Marketplace, Phoenix’s Film Bar, AMC Mesa Grand 14, and multiple Scottsdale locations.

As the band’s massive anniversary show flashes on the big screens, new music appears imminent, as Smith has said a new Cure record should be out by year’s end. They’ve also curated the Pasadena Daydream festival set for August 31 at Brookside At The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The lineup features Pixies, Deftones, Chelsea Wolfe, Mogwai, and more.
