Photo Gallery: Spiritualized live at The Wilbur in Boston

Editor’s Note: One of the intriguing things about seeing Spiritualized live in 2019 is that the concert attendee walks into a venue at the start both having a firm expectation of what’s going to happen alongside an exciting awareness of expecting the unexpected. There’s a nice balance of the spontaneous and the familiar in the stage performance of Jason Pierce and his impressive back catalog. Last night at The Wilbur in Boston, the Spaceman brought Spiritualized back into the brisk spring New England air, touring behind last year’s well-received new album And Nothing Hurt. There was no opening act — just Pierce and his expanded band, complete with choir and enough calm theatrics to fill a historic venue on a usually relaxed Sunday night. In the end it was two hours of Spiritualized, giving us the new album in full as well as some of the band’s greatest selections. Vanyaland’s Ben Stas was at the Wilbur to capture visuals of a very visual performance, and you can scan through his full gallery below.
