This Bliss glow like technicolor noir on ‘Make It Real’

New Sounds: The Cambridge trip-hop project shows off a colorful personality in this latest music video

There isn’t much we recall fondly about the Summer of 2018, but we do have neon midnight memories of bumping This Bliss’ shimmery single “Believe” during a few late-night escapades up in the mountains. The music of This Bliss has an uncanny ability to transport minds and emotions to once far-off places, and today the Cambridge-based project led by vocalist Jess Baggia (Man Trouble) and producer Nick Zampiello (Party Bois, New Alliance East Mastering) is back with a video for a seductively stylish trip-hop lounge-romp tune called “Make It Real.” The track is another cut off This Bliss’ cinematic fall record Forensic Styles.

“The video concept was keeping in the vein of our noir-esque vibe while also introducing elements of our personalities,” Baggia tells Vanyaland. “And of course, it features a star in the making — the mannequin! She’s a bit of a diva to work with but ultimately really loves the camera.”

With the holidaze properly in the rear-view, This Bliss are staying busy through January, showing off Forensic Styles across a quartet of shows that take them down to New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Closer to home, they play Beat Brew Hall in Cambridge’s Harvard Square on January 31. Peep all their live dates and set a motion of intrigue by clicking play on the video.
