‘Pet Sematary’ Trailer: Sometimes dead is better, even in remakes

Pet Sematary

We hope you like Stephen King, because, well, he’s gonna be everywhere for a while. Thanks to It’s massive success at the box office last year, you’re going to be seeing a glut of new adaptations of the horror master’s work hit the big screen in the next half-decade. To say that we’re pumped for this Stephenaissance is a bit of an understatement, and one of the film’s we’ve been looking forward to the most has been the Pet Sematary remake from directors Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, best known as the sick fucks who brought you the incredibly intense Starry Eyes a few years back. Paramount Pictures, seeking to capitalize on the vibes of the spooky season that surrounds us, dropped a first-look trailer for the movie today, and it looks like a ton of gruesome fun.

Take a look:

Honestly, even though the original adaptation is pretty near and dear to us (along with many of the post-Shining King adaptations of the ’80s like Cujo and Christine), we’re really excited for a new take on this material. They’ve certainly cast it well, though the little fella is fuzzier than we imagined — we mean the cat, not Jason Clarke. And we hope that Kolsch and Widmyer realize that it is a federal offense not to include this track in any attempted remake of this property:

Here’s a synopsis:

“Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, ‘Pet Sematary’ follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.”

Pet Sematary hits theaters on April 5, 2019. Hide your dogs and cats, everybody.
