Comedian Steve W. Brown attacked on stage during stand-up routine

Scary stuff out of South Carolina last night (January 21), as comedian Steve W. Brown was attacked on stage during his stand-up routine.

The incident happened at The Comedy House in Columbia, South Carolina, and fan-filmed video shows the attacker throwing punches before then using a mic stand and a stool to lash out at the funnyman. It’s unclear what prompted the attack, but stunned audience members sat back as the whole thing unfolded, watching Brown brace and defend himself while moving around the stage area.

The attacker apparently was sitting in the front row during Brown’s performance. His outburst, which went on for several seconds, left Brown cut on his arm and a bit shaken up.

Brown took to Instagram afterwards to blast the club for not having proper security in place.

“First off let me start by saying Thanks for the calls and messages from friends, fans and my family,” Brown says in the video below. “With that being said, let me say this. This unprovoked attacked that happened to me tonight is a reminder of why these comedy clubs should have well equipped PROFESSIONAL security to protect us entertainers who bring their club so much money. I thank God for looking out for me and giving my old ass the ability to Bob and weave because this could have ended in horrible way.”
