‘My heart is broken’: Boston rapper BIA opened Ariana Grande’s show in Manchester

A Boston musician who opened the Ariana Grande show tonight in Manchester says she is heartbroken after a suspected terrorist attack killed 19 and left roughly 50 others injured.

Medford High School graduate and Boston-based rapper BIA, also known as Perico Princess and born Bianca Landrau, is currently on tour with Grande and Victoria Monét on the pop star’s Dangerous Woman Tour. After opening select dates of Grande’s North American tour (but not the March 3 Boston show at TD Garden), BIA has joined Grande for eight European leg dates, including tonight’s show at Manchester Arena.

Back in 2014 and 2015, BIA appeared on Oxygen reality television show Sisterhood of Hip Hop.

Earlier tonight, according to NBC Boston, BIA tweeted the following: “GUYS WE ARE OKAY !!! THANK YOU WE LOVE YOU ????????❤️”

While that tweet appears to have been deleted, BIA has left up the following messages:

NBC Boston cites multiple reports that suggest the explosion was the target of a suicide bomber. The scene of the explosion is still under investigation.
