San Francisco garage rock band Thee Oh Sees have announced a North American tour. That in and of itself isn’t too uncommon, but one date on the 16-date late-summer run certainly is: A September 13 show at The Sinclair in Cambridge.

The local gig marks what we think is John Dwyer’s band’s first show in the Boston-area since 2010, when they played the Magic Room Gallery in Brighton in September of that year. Watch video from that show below.

The Sinclair date is co-presented by Illegally Blind Presents, and tickets go on sale Friday (April 28) at noon local time. They are priced at $23 in advance and $25 at doors.

Earlier this year, Dwyer, a Providence native, released a solo album under his Damaged Bug moniker, but this extended run of tour dates, preceded by a ton of shows in Europe from May to August, as well as an appearance at FYF Fest in Los Angeles in July, could suggest another Oh Sees album might be on the way. The band’s latest effort was last year’s An Odd Entrances. “Could the new dates be an indicator of a busy 2017 from the John Dwyer-led outfit?” reads a press release, via Exclaim. “Could these dates point to the possibility of a new record(s)? One can only hope…”

We’ll take whatever we can get. And right now, a Cambridge show sounds pretty damn good.
