Break On Through: Louisiana floods reveal ‘lost hippie mural’ under house’s floorboards

The month of August has been marred by severe flooding in Louisiana, the result of prolonged rainfall that governor John Bel Edwards has described as “historic” and “unprecedented”. The damages around the southern part of the state are still being calculated for what’s been declared the worst natural disaster in the United States since Hurricane Sandy in 2012. For one homeowner, the damages has yielded an unexpected surprise — a “lost hippie” mural” hidden underneath the house’s floorboards.

According to a pictorial on Imgur by howisnapoleonbonerpartyalreadytaken (much respect for that username), the demo process on the damaged house eventually led to pulling up the wooden floorboards outside the kitchen, and what they soon found was pretty cool — an extensive mural with graphics of bands like The Doors, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Buddy Guy, and others. Either the homeowner released a few trapped souls from the 60s and 70s, or the ghost of Jerry Garcia has been summoned to the Bayou State

This was the first pic, when we realized something was under the floor. Hope you guys enjoyed, it brought me and my roommates some joy and distraction in this trying time. Lots of friends and familys had devestated homes and properties..if any of you kind folks read this or have thought, ‘how can i help?’ You can donate to gopathway.com/give and write ‘flood relief’ in the text box, that will go to a fund for 5 families in my small church that lost everything. Thanks for looking, and remember, possessions are just things, relationships and friends are forever. Go tell someone you love them today! It could all be underwater tommorow
