Pop Will Greet Itself: 15 songs we are dying to hear this weekend at Boston Calling

With headlining performances by Robyn, HAIM, Disclosure, and Sia, this weekend's Boston Calling Music Festival has taken on a stronger pop tone. And the single most important aspect of pop music is just that -- the single.

As we gear up for another weekend camped out at City Hall Plaza, stuffing our faces with Tasty Burger, immersing ourselves around people born in the '90s, and taking in as much music as we can (a task made a bit harder with the addition of a new third stage for local music and comedy), we've mapped out 15 songs we are just dying to hear. From the rowdy guitar rock of Courtney Barnett's "Pedestrian At Best" to that scene from Girls come to life x20,000 during Robyn's "Dancing On My Own", this weekend's festival should be filled with individual highlights that are all about the song.

Check out our full preview and Vanyaland staff picks, get acquainted with the festival's new-ish layout, and scan through the hits below using our fancy-ass slider.

See you at City Hall Plaza. Full set times are after all the sounds.

HAIM, “If I Could Change Your Mind” (Sunday at 7:55 p.m.)

Sure, the Los Angeles band will be playing new stuff in anticipation of the long-awaited follow-up to their 2013 debut, Days Are Gone. They might even bust out that Prince cover. But we really can’t recall the last time HAIM played our town (May ’14 at the House of Blues?), so hearing the familiar jams as the sun sets over Boston in the middle of a three-day weekend sounds like a good time to us.
