Over the weekend, Store 54 in Allston hosted a Saturday night show with scene veteran Andrea Gillis and a Swedish band called Stupidity. Based on news delivered late last week, it’ll unfortunately be one of the last shows at the Harvard Avenue vintage clothing and record shop.
Owner Wayne Valdez announced on Friday that Store 54 would be closing on May 2, though the following month is littered with special events and other sales and showcases.
“We are taking a sabbatical,” writes owner Wayne Valdez. “I will be working with my photography archive for all to see some rich history of Boston Rock and Roll! And to get back to my sculptural work. Keep your eye out for posts about sales and shows at Store 54 through March, April and May. We will still be here in May for exclusive openings and sales and of course a celebration at the end of May for our patrons and friends!”
Valdez also noted that he will be taking his collections to the Brimfield Antiques and Collectibles Shows this spring (May 10 to 15), and will be hosting a few final shows at the Store 54 location, which sits in an underground lot of the old fire station across the street from O’Brien’s Pub.
