Listen: Heavy Rotation Records takes ‘Dorm Sessions’ off-campus tonight at the Sinclair

While we are set to announce the lineup of our 2016 South-by-Southwest party with Berklee College of Music sometime next week, the university is showing off a bounty of showcase-worthy sounds tonight at the Sinclair in Cambridge.

Heavy Rotation Records presents Dorm Sessions 11, the latest release from Berklee’s student-run label, and the Harvard Square rock club will be filled with some intriguing and eclectic sounds. Leading the charge is French-born singer Noé (pictured above), whose electro-pop track “Lady” has been in VanyaRadio’s own heavy rotation, Americana folk act Honeysuckle, who dazzled at our CMJ party last fall, and the glitched-out bass of Miami’s Glow Team. That’s not even including the 24-piece Trap Music Orchestra, which for better or worse is billed exactly how it sounds.

The record release party for this edition of Dorm Sessions is the first to be held outside of the Berklee campus.

“My goal with Heavy Rotation Records is to offer an experiential class, allowing the students to pick the artists and promote the concert,” says Jeff Dorenfeld, its faculty advisor, in a presser. “After 15 successful concerts on campus, the class wanted to take the concert to a venue they felt was more contemporary and engaging for the fans, and take on the challenge of promoting a show at one of the city’s premier venues.”

Tonight’s show is $5 with student ID, while general admission tickets are $10. Attendees receive a copy of Dorm Sessions 11 and a free bag of goodies from HRR’s sponsors. Listen to the entire compilation via our Slider below.
