Spring Fever: Sadie Dupuis unveils pop project Sad13, Google Play collab with Lizzo

Come Memorial Day weekend, New England will get a fresh dose of Lizzo when the Minneapolis rapper plays May’s Boston Calling Music Festival. It’s no coincidence, then, that her new collaboration with Speedy Ortiz’ Sadie Dupuis has us straight up daydreaming about springtime, big sunglasses, light jackets, and beautifully sunny weather.

That collaboration, “Basement Queens”, is the first bit new music from Dupuis’ new pop-leaning project Sad13. Together, Lizzo and Sad13 teamed up via Google Docs to write the track, collaborating over the internet and creating a vibe and sound that makes us want to drive our Big Wheels all over the fucking sidewalk. It was produced by Computer Magic, with drumming duty from Jordyn Blakely of Brooklyn’s Butter the Children.

Listen to (and download) the track exclusively via Google Play, and get more details on the collaboration process by watching a behind-the-scenes video below. We don’t think it’s too early to start wondering if Dupuis will show up as a guest at City Hall Plaza when Lizzo takes the stage at Boston Calling. We certainly hope that happens.
