Bring The Message: Downtown Boys announce 2016 dates with Sheer Mag

Hailed as one of the best bands to come out of New England in 2015, Providence political sax-punk ensemble Downtown Boys are taking their message on the road early next year. In support of debut LP Full Communism, which dropped earlier this year via Don Giovanni Records, the ‘Boys will head out on six dates with Philly hype slingers Sheer Mag in February and March, and ring in the New Year with a pair of notable shows: January 8 at Café Nine in New Haven with Guerilla Toss, and Maricamerica; and January 9 at Philly’s Blistering Ephemera Festival with Xiu Xiu, PC Worship, Guerilla Toss and others.

Check out their full run of dates below.

Writes Vanyaland’s Rob Duguay in his Best of 2015 recap (coming next week), in which he lists “Monstro” as the best song to come out of Rhode Island this year: “Ever since the political dance punks released their second album Full Communism this past May they’ve blown up like a ton of confetti and balloons raining down on the masses. Punching racial stereotypes in the face, ‘Monstro’ combats the assumptions of the status quo with unleashed fury. Frontwoman Victoria Ruiz and guitarist Joey DeFrancesco have become one of the many voices of a movement that continues to grow. In a wild year, there’s nothing more relevant than a song that speaks out against what’s wrong and proving what’s right. ‘Monstro’ from Downtown Boys does that perfectly and that’s why it’s the best track to come out of Providence in 2015.”
