Song Premiere: Fall into a sweet surfy trance with Atlantic Thrills’ new track ‘Bloodshot Eyes’

There’s going to be a rock and roll celebration going down this Saturday night at Dusk in Providence. People will be dancin’, drinkin’, singin’ and having a really good time.

You may ask: What brings about such an occasion like this? Psychedelic garage rock masters Atlantic Thrills are celebrating the release of their second full length album Vices (out via Brooklyn based label Almost Ready Records) joined up by the likes of riot grrrls Pyramid, bubblegum punks Neutrinos and guitar pop trio Eric & The Nothing. “The King Of Soul Power” Ty Jesso and Zack S. will also be spinnin’ jams in between acts. It’s a stacked night of highly amplified music taking over the little venue over on Harris Avenue, and it’s bound to be a time no one in attendance will forget.

Off of the aforementioned upcoming album, we here at Vanyaland are giving you a taste of it with “Bloodshot Eyes”. The track has a vintage ’60s-era surf pop vibe with frontman Eric Aguiar putting the listener in a trance when the chorus hits. It’s a safe bet that the quartet was listening to a lot of The Ventures and The Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds at the time they wrote this song. An interesting departure from Atlantic Thrills’ emphatic and reckless style, “Bloodshot Eyes” is an example of the varieties of tracks Vices has from start to finish. It’s a song that you burn one down and stare at the ceiling after you press play and start to listen.

So we’ll stress: Everybody in Providence should make going to Atlantic Thrills’ Vices album release party at Dusk part of their itinerary Saturday night. It’s going to be a rabble rouser with great music, a fun atmosphere and the best people. While you’re having a blast, don’t forget to grab a copy of the new album, as Vices is definitely one of the best local releases to come out of The Creative Capital in 2015.

Until then, listen to “Bloodshot Eyes” below for a sneak peek.
