Watch 1,000 people play Foo Fighters’ ‘Learn To Fly’ because there hasn’t been a lot of Dave Grohl news lately

We realized this morning that it has been nearly two weeks since we wrote anything about Dave Grohl. That’s mainly because the Foo Fighters tour took a little break after their douple-play of Fenway Park shows earlier this month, and the band’s gigs in Asia last weekend didn’t seem to cause any uproar, panic, broken bones, throne news, sick child wishes, Sully Erna sightings, or juicy pull-quote rants about the future of rock and roll.

Hey, sometimes shows are just shows.

But with the Foos’ North American tour picking back up August 12 in Edmonton, we wanted to shake off some copy rust and get back down in the news trenches. So fuck it, here’s video of 1,000 people in Italy all playing “Learn To Fly” in one grand — and admittedly awesome — attempt to lure Grohl into the city of Cesena.

From Time:

The website “Rockin’ 1000″ claims the group has not been to Romagna since 1997. These diehard fans had to raise 44,000 euros (nearly $50,000) in a crowdfunding campaign to pull off the stunt. Now it is just a question of whether the Foo Fighters or Dave Grohl will see the video and post on social media that he will be there — or not.

Will he go?

Shit we’re surprised he didn’t jump out of a big fucking cake in the middle of the field right there and finish the damn song himself.

Fear not, Cesena — if you play it, Grohl will come.
